LIARS PARADISE!!!!!!
Lies have always fascinated me one way or the other. Why do people lie, or why are lies, lies and not the other way, or are lies really lies or just distortion of truth?....So on and so forth. Can liars be compulsive or can lying be genetically connected; do braggarts come in the same category of liars, or those who fantasise be joined in the lying club. All these are questions that often churn my brain and try to answer myself usually on my daily walks.
I also compare people that come in my daily contacts and judge for myself whether they lied or not during their course of conversation with me. I am of an opinion that humans lie some more some less during their life time , lies are lies white or what ever we may call them . I don’t think even people like Mahatma Gandhi and his cadre were totally truthful, being a highly educated and a high profile public figure they must have developed a cleverly manipulative technique of lying, I put him in a category of dictators, the Gandhian way( manipulator of masses by emotional blackmail the right way to put it ). Their way of dealing with situations worked for the betterment of people, but not always. Their ego usually hurts their kith and kin directly or indirectly.
Is lying hereditary? If no, than why do some families have members who are compulsive liars in their lineage to several generations? If braggarts are to be included in liar’s category, why do we find them several generations down? Mind you braggarts are a different breed altogether, they don’t mean harm to their fellow humans; they solely are involved in their personal gratification.
We develop lying from very early days of our childhood for very petty reasons in our daily lives till it becomes a rabid habit in some cases, some hurt people and some don’t . In the home ,we brake things and lie , we spill things and lie , we lie for gaining things from our parents, we lie when we come home late, we lie about who we go out with , we lie about what we eat outside of our homes ( if we are restricted to certain foods indoors due to religious reasons ), we lie about tasks completed in the house of daily chores , dressing , games, internet, you name it and we lie about it in one way or the other . Why why...............? There could be a thousand and one reasons.
One can understand a reason behind lying, is to hide a crime committed, be it a minor or a serious crime. So in that case, every instance (where lies are told) would categorise to some extent, a crime. So, white lies are lies told where a crime has been committed at a lowest rung of crime scale, where the action does not harm anyone (in most cases depending on peoples involved). Here I say this because even a minor act of crime (which will be not considered a crime with some groups of people) where in some religious groups could become a crime punishable by death.
People have been jailed on the bases of lies, people have been executed on the bases of lies, women are being killed or stoned to death on the bases of lies, hands are being chopped off for crimes not committed on the bases of lies, people end their marriages on the bases of lies, businesses are ruined, wars are fought, empires lost all on the bases of lies and the list is endless.
Lying is a human characteristic, not found in any other animal species. Animals are not capable of lying; or are they? Chameleons change their colour according to their surroundings for their defence and hunt insects; insects metamorphose according to surroundings in their defence and hunt other insects, fish do it, primates do it, smallest and the largest of animals do it, so can we also put them in the category of liars, the animal way. (Is it then a natural behaviour of all living organisms to act in their defence, and lying becomes a tool?) However they settle their scores naturally and hold no grudge for later, unlike humans.
Religious prophets are perhaps liars too one way or the other. Revelations come to these prophets from the so called God (must be an insane god to put one person in charge to lead millions of people as chosen beings) in their dreams, all those who do not fit into that group of religious fanaticism are destined to die is the command of that God, how sad. Is that perhaps what drove Hitler to kill millions of Jews and fellow humans, lies? Is that what perhaps drove the Christians to kill American Indians in their millions, lies. Is that what drove the killer armies of Islam to plunder and kill infidels of other lands, lies. Lies that come as religious teachings from the so called God's divine words, lies that come out of preachers mouths as God's divine words. Could it be than that lies told or practiced en mass become truths if unchallenged.
Historians lie, scientists lie, doctors lie, teachers lie, politicians lie, priests, rabbi, mullahs, Buddhist monks, witch doctors lie. You lie, I lie and we all lie, it’s a liar’s paradise, we lie north, we lie south, we lie east and west, villages lie towns lie , cities lie, countries lie and continents lie, some lie at the lowest rung and others at the top in the lying scale.
So next time you lie or brag, make sure or at least try to stay at a lowest rung so as, least harm is done to your fellow human beings.
